About this deal

Greg is not in the best shape right now, so he tries to change it by going to the gym with his father, Frank. Susan decides to reorganize the team, and give them a new name, the Huskies (later renamed Winter Dogs), as she becomes the coach, but uses strange techniques for practicing.

They scored almost all of their points from the free throw line, and the final scored was 33-17 for the Stage Whisperers. When Edward Mealy got the ball, he started getting emotional, talking about how his stepmom is strict and doesn't like the turtle he got for his birthday. Greg got frustrated so he decided to shoot it backwards which went in, and his teammates tried to replicate it. In the British version of the book, the American flags on pages 11 and 16 are replaced by British flags.Ray's team was cheating, they put their water balloons in the cafeteria freezer and got caught when George Ralston knocked out Mikey Ardalla cold. Kinney would reveal in an interview with The Boston Globe that the book would focus Greg's relationship and perspective on sports, a story he wanted to explore in the series for a while and that he thinks he finally “nailed it”.

While he was gone, the team discovered a bunch of equipment in the Phys Ed closet, so they started having fun and created their own game. The next game was against Stage Whisperers and they won because they confused Greg's team by acting. Patel then gave a speech about him being proud of the team for trying even though none of them were good. He says that the reason why Plainview hates the surrounding towns is because they always destroy them in sport and the town that they hate the most is Slacksville.

One of the exercises was: You sit in a circle and one person passes the ball to the person right next to them and that person has to tell something about themselves. In the next practice Patel gave a speech about how injuries were part of sport, and they were gonna have to step it up. During halftime, Patel gave a speech about a group of Scottish warriors who were outnumbered by their enemies, but they won because they stuck together and after that speech, the team was ready. Field Day turns out to be a large disaster, as teachers trade students to give them an advantage, students are paid to fail in the game, and ultimately, the lunch staff wins the day. Overall, there are 351 words capitalized in this book, around 50 less than The Deep End (not including words that are always capitalized, such as "TV").Patel argues with them, and they work out a compromise, it's similar to how the senior citizens came to the Valentine's Day dance so they can have their meeting, and a compromise is worked out in The Third Wheel. The game starts off with Slacksville hitting a three-pointer, they then stole the ball and made another one and now they were twenty points ahead. Greg eventually got escorted to the Child Finder Station and had been shown on the Jumbotron, which made Greg use his chance to get fan of the game, in front of the entire audience.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Big Shot is the sixteenth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney. The other coach didn't have a problem with it, but Susan did and said she wanted to win fair and square, so she sent Greg over to the other team. Patel meets with his team for the first time in the elementary school and despite all the team members being bad, (except for Preet) he gave a speech that no matter what the team will begin to play the right way. Towards the end of practice, Patel handed out the team's uniforms which was recycled from tryouts and had a sponsor that was closed for code violations.
