About this deal

Multi-Platform USB-C dongle lets you swap easily between systems for low latency 2.4 GHz wireless designed for gaming

I basically use the “Immersion” preset but tweaked slightly to bring out a little more in Rainbow Six: Siege. I also have the compression on low so footsteps are a bit louder and explosions are a bit softer. The settings I’ve screenshotted here have the compression just right for me so it doesn’t come out too muddy. DJTechLive: It also has a secondary headband that's similar to a self-adjusting ski goggle suspension band, which traces the wearer’s head for a perfect fit. How can you say it is "superb" for directional accuracy, when the DAC is basically a stereo DAC with DTS Headphone processing added on top.No amount of echo , reverb or phase manipulation on top of the Stereo signal will recreate that positional info. Not up there with the best of Creative, Sennheiser or even Asus sound cards in true 3D positional headphone cues.

The heart of the Arctis Pro + GameDAC is the legendary ESS Sabre 9018 Reference DAC, revered for its unsurpassed audio quality with 121 dB of dynamic range and -115 dB THD+N. This makes bass sound tighter, individual sound effects more distinct, and positional cues pin-point accurate. High fidelity audio comes to gaming for the first time Hi-res capable speaker drivers and a lossless and lag-free wireless solution make Arctis Pro Wireless the only true wireless high fidelity gaming audio system. In fact, these headset is so good there’s not much difference between the analog and the digital inputs. Analog audio might not but as detailed, but it still sounds fantastic. That says a lot about this unit’s sound quality. This GameDAC, ergonomically speaking, feels kind of in the way. Like an anchor it’s big, bulky, heavy and requires a USB power source. So you’ll never be able to just take the whole Arctis Pro setup and plug it into a phone to get the best audio it can deliver.. But it’s another minor detail we can overlook, especially because of its capabilities.

SteelSeries offers multiple headsets compatible with the next-gen Xbox Series X|S, as well as Xbox One and other platforms. By extension, H7’s wider soundstage makes its virtual surround sound more natural; but not by much. Arctis Pro’s virtual surround sound is pretty convincing , making up for another one of Arctis 7’s shortcomings. While playing Hitman, we could hear voices passing and from behind us; with Dishonored 2, we could hear the guards running up to us before we even see them. When it comes to playing games, the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless really shines, giving us a great feeling of immersion and all the oomph that should come with big on-screen explosions. As an extra perk, it also has its own amplifier circuit. We noticed that this feature doesn’t necessarily give the headset a punchier sound than its competitors. However, it does help deliver extremely low distortion at even the highest output levels. To give it that gamer’s look, LED lights run around the fringe of the ear cups and you can customize using the GameDAC. The mic, which twists in any direction and easily pushes into the left ear cup when not in use, has its own LED light that glows when muted. Designed for great traction in multiple environments and ideal for those exploring the open countryside.

SteelSeries once again opts for a classy, matte look and an ergonomic design. Its steel headband boasts a gunmetal finish with a padded underside. The swiveling ear cups flaunt removable plates with a coat soft touch paint and athletics-inspired Airweave cushions. When I first unboxed and set up my SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC I was instantly comparing it to my Arctis 7's in sound quality. I said to myself "I dont seem to hear a difference", plus the fact that the Arctis 7 were wireless I needed a lot of convincing in the sound department to make me fully switch. Then I found the custom equalizer and my goodness did the sound pour through once I set my custom setting to my liking! I am a fan of good mids, little above average bass boosting and solid mids. When gaming with games such as Fortnite, MMO's, and single player games that have sound play an important role, I wanted to make sure I customized my settings so I can hear the slightest movement in game. Loving this headset and the control base that comes with it is amazing providing sound above my expectations! ToastmanGames: Zach is an esports dinosaur having competed at MLG tournaments from 2005-2009. After hanging up the controller, he went on to produce content for the likes of MLG, Machinima, and ESL. He now currently resides on the global marketing team here at SteelSeries and somehow got roped into creating this blog post you just read. Not to say that Arctis Pro is faultless. It’s soundstage, for example, isn’t as wide as some top headsets in the market— Creative’s Sound BlasterX H7 Tournament Edition, for example, has an even more impressive one. Still, it has a very good stereo image and every sound seems to come from the right place. However, the distances of the different elements in a game are not as palpable as they are with the H7. One thing to keep in mind is that the when using GameDAC has a maximum volume limiter. When you're going analog instead of using the GameDAC, the headphones are much louder. The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset is designed to be the perfect combination between a gaming headset and an impressive pair of headphones. Control every aspect of sound with the first-in-gaming Pro-grade Parametric EQ, complete with audio presets from pros. Sonar Software's exclusive AI-noise cancelling tunes out noise for you and your squad.
